At Morro da Urca with your ticket, you gain entrance to Praça dos Bondes. This space showcases two former generations of the Sugar Loaf Cable Car and life-sized bronze statues of their visionaries, Augusto Ferreira Ramos and Christopher Leite de Castro. Here, you'll be immersed in the history of the iconic Sugar Loaf Cable Car. Celebrating over a century since its inauguration, Cocuruto displays its rich legacy through captivating image exhibitions, projections, and displays of original machinery and artifacts. This distinction honors it as Brazil's first cable car and the world's longest-running one. Periodically, the venue also presents special temporary exhibitions, enriching the visitor's experience. Additionally, the park is thoughtfully designed for inclusivity, featuring amenities like preferential access, an elevator platform, ramps, and adapted restrooms, ensuring that wheelchair users and those with limited mobility can enjoy the sights and history without hindrance.
Itinerary
1. Sugarloaf Mountain
The ride to the Pão de Açúcar cable car starts at the Praia Vermelha station, goes up to Morro da Urca and goes to the Sugarloaf Mountain, which are connected by two cable car lines, painting breathtaking views at any time of the day. Enjoy the exuberant nature of the Atlantic Forest, the outline of the mountains, the beauty of the architecture and the city center, the main beaches and tourist attractions of Rio de Janeiro such as: the imposing Tijuca massif and Corcovado with the image of Christ the Redeemer; Guanabara Bay with Botafogo Cove; and, in the background, the Serra do Mar with the peak “Dedo de Deus” and much more. Plan to enjoy the whole day with family and friends, enjoy attractions and cultural events with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. - Full tour (4 stretches).
